As
anticipated, October was a huge month for training and included some of my
longest distances yet. My swimming saw a
4700 yard pool workout and 4150 yard pool workout with a couple of 2.5+ mile
open water swims. I had my 3 longest
rides of the season (84.15, 100.99, and 112.4).
I also had my 2 longest runs of the season as well (12.22, and 13.45). I know that I would have had more long runs,
but that pesky knee area really had us spooked for about 2 – 2 ½ weeks. That being said, the reduced running may have
had a positive effect in that it seems to be coming along better now. Looking back at all of my longer runs, over
the last two years, I have increased my average pace by about a minute per mile
over similar distances. I guess that
could be the supplements, Carlos’ running regimen, or the newly found massage
therapy, but there might be something to be said for the reduced wear and tear
from running lower mileage….for me at least.
Without further
