An Old Friend Makes A Comeback

Since I was anticipating my 1st 100 mile ride tomorrow, I needed to pick up some Gu and EFS Powershot.  This time, for the Powershot, I bought their 32oz refill container for $20.  Do the math, 32oz / 5oz flasks = approx 6 5oz flasks.  Each 5oz flask costs $5 individually.  I save about $10 this way ($30 vs. $20).

Sticking with the “saving money” theme, you may recall that I had this to say In my September 1st blog entry (Proof Is In The Pudding...Or Gels):

“It seems as though IM has gone back to providing Gu gels on the course.  I’m OK with either, so it’s not really that big of a deal for me.  I’ve seen that they will be offering regular Gu and their “Amped up” version called Roctane.  As if Gu wasn’t expensive enough, their Roctane brand is TWICE as much as the original.  I might buy both and integrate them for my training, but not so sure I’m sold on Roctane enough to make it my usual go to energy source once IM is over.”

While I knew that the Roctane version was twice as much, I was still hit by sticker shock when I actually went to purchase some.  Even looking at the individual Roctane’s for $2.50 a piece, didn’t sit well with me.  As a result, I visited an old friend….Jet Blackberry.  You can click here to see what I had to say about it in 2010 (May 2010).  All I have to say is, welcome back my friend, you have been missed!
